Malaysia's Room
Malaysia is an adorable 15 year old girl with amazing spirit. She loves baking and watching the Cooking Channel as well as watching movies on Netflix. She loves the holidays, particularly Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas and loves to eat – especially pie. She typically lives with her father in Virginia during the school year and then spends summers here in Binghamton, NY with her mother. Because of a top-level Oncology team at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, Malaysia has moved to Binghamton permanently.
Malaysia was diagnosed with liver cancer 4 months ago. She had always been healthy, until one day just prior to diagnosis, was complaining of severe stomach pain and went to the hospital. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy to shrink the tumor and will be placed on a transplant list.
A Room to Heal was notified of Malaysia’s diagnosis and a team was formed. Our goal is to provide her with the best quality of life and to allow her to share her smile and personality with loved ones as she fights her battle with cancer. Her new healing bedroom has new furniture and is filled with her favorite colors of blue and green – which in her words best represent the simple things that “make her happy”. There is also a special area for her new best friend Sasha, a kitten who hasn’t left her side since they met.
"The lights. I love the lights, the pictures, just everything is my favorite part," Malaysia said. "I love it."
Many thanks to the Friends and family that donated time and talents to transform Malaysia’s room into a teen girl’s dream room. Thank you to our friends at Olums for their continuous support of A Room to Heal.
