Abel's Room
April 29, 2013 – January 20, 2018
Abel gained his wings on January 20, 2018. He will be remembered as a warrior, who fought so hard.
Abel was a very spirited and smart boy who loved to build, dance, read, and watch movies with his family. He started chemotherapy in January of 2017 after he was diagnosed with stage 3 Neuroblastoma.
Abel liked classic cars, dinosaurs, and most of all loved anything to do with hunting and fishing. He also loved to build, using magnetic blocks and bobby pins to make shapes and designs. Abel had always been a very active boy, but with his illness, he became more limited in what he was able to do. With a compromised immune system due to chemotherapy, so he couldn’t go to some of the fun places he used to love going to. We wanted to give him a room that suited his personality, style, and interests to help brighten each day for this sweet little boy.
Because of Abel’s strong interest in the outdoors and love for animals project leads, Liz and Garrett, created a hunting and fishing themed room: a buffalo check comforter, antler light fixture, and raccoon plushy make you feel like you’re in a cozy cabin. Abel’s other love was Minions, so his closet was converted into a Minion themed reading hide out!
A huge thank you to Nancy Valenta, Filbin Painting, Thomas Steckler, Chris Landen, Bill Kauczka for all of your help in making Abel’s space both fun and relaxing!
