RJ's Room
RJ is a 15 year old boy who was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma last year. Ewing’s Sarcoma is a cancer of the bone and soft tissue. RJ is currently undergoing chemotherapy in Syracuse and needs a new room at home to provide him with a bit of an escape from his treatments. RJ is a HUGE basketball fan and the room incorporates a number of special items related to basketball that RJ requested.
There were a number of businesses that donated their time/services: Albrite Electric, Warehouse Carpet, Dundon Construction, ServPro; as well as discounted items for us from: Petco, Olums, Lowe’s & Garland Gallery.
This was Project Manager Leslie Weigand’s first time managing a room – you may remember Leslie from her son Grady. Grady received a new bedroom and adaptive therapy room in March of 2017, with the help of A Room to Heal, the Southern Tier Homebuilder’s Association and Make-A-Wish. Leslie has been adamant to “give back” to others, and we are honored to have her work on this project for RJ.
