Maeve's Room

Maeve's Room

Maeve was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in May of 2018. Her family says her road to recovery has not been easy and has taken a toll on her. A Room To Heal heard Maeve’s story and stepped in to give her a magical room.
Maeve loves to be cozy and enjoys the typical little girl stuff like mermaids, my little pony and the color pink. A Volunteer Team from Chemung Canal Trust Company, led by Sarah Darling, did a fantastic job creating a beautiful space for Maeve.

“One of her favorite things is this great NPR podcast called Wow in the World. So we drew some inspiration from that, from her love from that and art and whimsical things like mermaids and unicorns,” said Sarah Darling, the project manager.
Volunteers gave Maeve a brand-new desk, shelves filled with books, a new bed, and a reading nook fit for a princess.
The room wasn’t Maeve’s only surprise! A Room to Heal’s Jared Fiske was able to coordinate with WSKG to help get in contact with the hosts of Maeve’s favorite podcast “Wow in the World”, Maeve was able to video chat with her favorite podacsters!
