Cadence's Room
Cadence is an 11th grader at Susquehanna Valley High School. Her world was turned upside down this past summer when she was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Her summer ended as quickly as it started as she had to wrap her head around being a teenager with cancer and travel out of town for treatment and surgery.
A Room to Heal learned of Cadence’s diagnosis through a Facebook post by Super Cooper Saves the Day and we knew we had to help. A project team was formed and they met with Cadence to talk to her about what her dream bedroom would look like and what we could do to make the space more comfortable and supportive for her. When asked when she would like us to get started on the transformation, she replied “How quickly can you start?.” Erin and Melissa got to work right away! Just one month later, her room was revealed.
Cadence loves moody spaces, so the team color-washed her room in a pretty grey. An emerald green bed, black furniture, and gold accessories bring the space to life. Cadence loves makeup, so the team added a vanity with a big mirror. Cozy bedding and TV give her a place to snuggle up and relax. Her bathroom was also updated with new paint and accessories!
Cadence had the best reaction when she saw her room for the first time…she loved it!!
Special thank you to Melissa Conklin and Erin Cosgriff for leading this project. Thanks to Dave Hansberry and Kara Joseph from The Stenta Cosgriff Team at eXp Realty, and the volunteers from Avangrid for all of your help!
