Emmy's Room
Meet Emmy. She is a sweet 10 year old who loves music, especially the Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and Trolls soundtracks!
Emmy has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, abnormal chromosomes, and vision challenges. She receives physical therapy, occupational therapy, and vision therapy. A Room to Heal determined that a therapy space would greatly benefit, Emmy. This dedicated space will enable her to work on improving her functional skills in the comfort of her home. Additionally, Emmy's bedroom will be updated to better accommodate her health requirements, ensuring a more supportive and tailored living environment.
The ceiling in Emmy’s therapy space and bedroom was painted black. This allows her to focus on viewing objects easier because of the black background. A Murphy bed was installed that allows a caregiver to sleep close by without taking up needed space. In the center of her therapy room, a swing was installed. Black curtains block out light so she can view her fiber optic lights and bubble tube. New flooring was installed, and shelving and storage was added.
A huge thank you to Jordan Mullins for leading this project. Your expertise was invaluable! Thank you to the employees from Credit Acceptance who volunteered to work on Emmy’s room while everyone was in town for a team meeting. Your kindness towards Emmy and her family was so touching.
