Adeline's Room

When we met Adeline and asked her about the things she loved, she said palm trees, sunsets, the beach, and horses. Karissa, from L2Studios, delivered! She chose a pink the color of clouds at sunset, artwork that celebrates the beach and horses, a lamp that looks like a palm tree, a light that casts the colors of the fading sun onto the walls, and so much more. Not only is the room gorgeous, but it gives Addie a place to rest and recharge.
Adeline has Aicardi-Goutieres Syndrome, a type of leukodystrophy. Because of AGS, it takes her a lot longer to recover from illnesses and colds than most and it also makes her tire quickly. Her new space has blackout curtains to allow her to rest even when the sun is shining. A larger bed and new mattress give her a cozy place to nap. The sunset light gives her the ability to mimic the setting sun, creating a very relaxing and peaceful feeling. As you can see...Addie absolutely loves her room!
A huge thank you to Karissa Decosse for leading this project and designing a gorgeous space, Mick Lombardini from L2studio architecture, and Brushes Over Broome for all of the work you put into getting this room ready for us! Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make this space so special for Addie: Amy, Reuben, and Eddie from the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Janet, Maura, Kristy, Bryant, and Paul. Thank you to Billie for another yummy meal for our volunteers!
