Cambrie's Room

Meet Cambrie, an adorable 4 year old who was diagnosed with leukemia at just 2 ½. Cambrie has a twin sister and an older brother. The goal of this project was to create a place where the three children can play together and bond. Where they can heal from the scariness of cancer, and where they can make happy memories together.
Project Lead, Kay Murray, got right to work planning a space that is cheerful, fun, and will be a place where Cambrie and her siblings can just be kids! She took each child into consideration when designing the space, reflected in the 3 colors featured in the room (pink, purple, and aqua). There is a lot of storage for toys and games. The soft, fuzzy rug is so cozy! A play tent gives them a calming spot to relax or read. A new table is the perfect place to play games together.
Thank you to Brushes Over Broome for helping us out again by painting the room and getting the paint donated! Freedom Allstar Cheer helped assemble furniture and set the room up. Cadence, a 2024 room kid, is a member of Freedom Allstar Cheer and was one of the volunteers! We love that she was able to give back by helping another child with cancer. Karen is another volunteer with a connection to A Room to Heal, her sister was one of our room kids back in 2009. Thank you to everyone who gave their time to help Cambrie.
