Evan’s Room

Evan is a happy, active 9-year-old who is autistic and nonverbal. He is learning to communicate with a special iPad so he’ll be able to better communicate with his family and teachers. He is the youngest of 4 kids, his brothers and sister are all extremely loving and supportive.

Evan sleeps with his parents since it isn’t safe for him to be alone. He is sometimes inconsolable and it’s not always possible to figure out the problem – at all hours of the night. To help Evan, our wonderful team of volunteers designed and created a sensory room for him. The new space is not only gorgeous, but it is safe and appropriate for Evan’s needs and also an environment the whole family can enjoy together.
