Macey's Room

In December 2006, 7-year-old Macey was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma cancer. She was treated in Syracuse at The Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Upstate Medical University Hospital.
Macey was not able to attend 2nd grade and spent a lot of time at home, often very sick and in pain.
Because Macey and her family spend a lot of time together, the family room was selected as the healing environment. Volunteers with A Room to Heal, Inc. were thrilled and moved by what they were able to create for her family. At the end of May 2007, Macey's got to see her new room, equipped with a foosball table, big screen TV and a stage. Macey broke out in song singing "The sun will come out tomorrow". There was not a dry eye in the house.
Thankfully Macey’s body responded well to treatment, and in September 2007, she was given a clean bill of health after a series of follow-up tests. Macey is now back in school and doing well.
